Literature Review on Bromine & Ochratoxin A in Feed

Illustration representing the process of extensive literature review applied to Ochratoxin A and bromine derivatives in food and feed.

Partnering with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), we performed two extensive literature searches focusing on studies relevant to Ochratoxin A (OTA) and bromine derivatives, namely bromate and bromide (BRs) in feed. The search yielded 8,953 and 34,183 references for OTA and BRs, respectively. A rigorous screening process classified references into six specific areas, ranging from analytical techniques for quantification to the transfer of OTA/BRs from feed to animal-derived food. As a result, 618 non-redundant documents were identified for OTA and 100 for BRs after an in-depth full-text analysis. This comprehensive research ensured informed insights into the effects and presence of these compounds in feed.
